Three Errors and Three Truths They Undermine August 1, 2010
Errors:
- hyper-Calvinism
- antinomianism
- legalism
Truths:
- justification
- sanctification
- glorification
Hyper-Calvinism focuses excessively on the end of God's cause of redeeming a people for Himself (the justification of His people) and distorts the necessity and effectiveness of the God-ordained means of repentance and faith.
Antinomianism focuses excessively on the end of God's delight in His people and distorts the role of the God-ordained means of sanctification to produce a life pleasing to God.
Legalism focuses excessively on the present expectation of growth in godliness effected within God's people while failing to grasp the future hope of God's cause for the glorification of a holy people in His eternal kingdom.
