A Wedding in Virginia
I participated in a wedding today (along with
my sister) by providing violin music.
Weddings are festive and solemn occasions. They form new families and usher in tremendous duties and responsibilities. Marriage fundamentally alters one's own position and profoundly influences one's family.
Christian weddings are important and enjoyable. They are important because they feature a proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ as exemplified in the relationship of a husband and wife. They are enjoyable because they celebrate the formation of a new team united for life.
The unmarried should use weddings as reminders to carefully consider the nature of marriage, its blessedness, and the preparations incumbent upon all who seek to enter it (a noble aspiration).
The married should use weddings as reminders of the purposes for marriage, the goodness of it, and the need for steadfast faithfulness in the midst of inevitable difficulty.
All should encourage those entering a state of matrimony to do so honorably and should take personal interest in the maintenance of the vows they witness.
