The Importance of Conductors

The Signature Symphony of Tulsa performed a program featuring the Adagietto from Mahler's Fifth Symphony and the Tchaikovsky Serenade for Strings this evening. Those works are staples of the standard repertoire, and rightly so, for they are excellent samples of Romanticism in instrumental music. Effective orchestral performances require skilled and attentive musicians, but the primary architect of any orchestral performance is the conductor. Conductors interpret scores, using the musicians at their disposal, to create memorable musical moments. Piotr Sulkowski is highly skilled in shaping performances and organizing rehearsals. It is always a pleasure to work under him.
