A Solution for Web Fonts January 19, 2010
The limited availability of high-quality cross-platform fonts for websites is a continual challenge for web designers and developers.
Some techniques for using more fonts include creating images and using Flash replacements with embedded fonts.

Today I discovered another solution for embedding high-quality fonts on websites: Typekit.
Typekit uses JavaScript to load custom fonts and styles for websites. High-quality fonts can be selected from the library and implemented via a well-designed web interface. No font files are stored on the server; availability is handled by Typekit.
I find these features attractive about Typekit:
- It has an extensive library of fonts.
- It has advanced style controls.
- It uses a scalable content delivery network (CDN) architecture.
- It provides high-quality font previews.
- It is inexpensive and eliminates font licensing headaches.
