User Experience January 15, 2010
The importance of user experience design is obvious in the domain of websites and computer applications. User experience is also commonly emphasized in product evaluations.
The foundational considerations of user experience design transcend those disciplines, however. Every communication and interaction has implications in the realm of user experience.
Visual interfaces and physical device designs are prominent in the field of user experience, but other applications should not be ignored.
What is the user experience of those who read your e-mails? If you are a programmer, do you design your code in such a way that future maintainers will be able to easily work with it? If you are a presenter (everyone is), do your presentations consider the experience of those listening to you?
The growing awareness of user experience (UX) as it relates to websites is propelling the web forward into a greatly improved state. Some hardware and software companies are boldly devoting themselves to the design of pleasurable user experiences.
Are these advancements affecting your work? They must.
