Clear Foresight January 2, 2010
Possessing hindsight is the ability to comprehend, based on past mistakes, valuable lessons for the future.
The knowledge of hindsight is plain, but it comes at a high price.
Foresight is gained through experience, but it does not always have to come from personal experience.
Youths are surrounded by older, wiser, and more experienced persons who gladly share insights they have learned. Many, however, are not made better by this potential knowledge, for they fail to grasp it.
Everyone has hindsight. Will you have foresight? Prudence demands it.
"The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom, and whatever you get, get insight. Prize her highly, and she will exalt you; she will honor you if you embrace her." — Proverbs 4:8,9 (ESV)
"Ponder the path of your feet; then all your ways will be sure." — Proverbs 4:26 (ESV)
"Hear instruction and be wise, and do not neglect it." — Proverbs 8:33 (ESV)
"Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser; teach a righteous man, and he will increase in learning." — Proverbs 9:9 (ESV)
"In everything the prudent acts with knowledge, but a fool flaunts his folly." — Proverbs 13:16 (ESV)
"The simple believes everything, but the prudent gives thought to his steps." — Proverbs 14:15 (ESV)
"Whoever ignores instruction despises himself, but he who listens to reproof gains intelligence." — Proverbs 15:32 (ESV)
"The glory of young men is their strength, but the splendor of old men is their gray hair." — Proverbs 20:29 (ESV)
